Living in your home while selling can be hard, but these tips will help.
Homes are our sanctuaries; they’re where we feel like we can truly relax and be ourselves. However, when you’re selling your house, it can be difficult when strangers come in and out of your property for showings. That’s why today I want to share some tips to help you live in your home while selling.
The first thing you need to do is get prepared. Take a look at your home and compare it to those you see online. What can you do to make your home look as inviting as them? You may want to hire a professional stager, but even without one, there are things you can do to make your home look great.
"Don’t pay a moving company to carry boxes full of things you don’t need."
One of the most important ways to prepare is to declutter. My rule of thumb is that if you haven’t used something in over a year, you don’t need it. Get some boxes and organize things into piles labeled give away, throw out, and keep. Don’t pay a moving company to carry boxes full of things you don’t need.
Your bathrooms are some of the most important rooms in your home. Buy some small plastic bags and make sure your toiletries and medications are stored away from any guests. Not only do you want to keep them safe, but they’ll also let your bathroom shine.
Finally, look at your house like a buyer would. Does it look ready? Buyers will come in this market, so if there’s something that shouldn’t be there, pack it away.
